How the Program Works
Apply & Choose Your Vehicle
Submit a $100 non-refundable application fee. Approval is based on your down payment percentage — not your credit score. Choose from our available inventory.
Make Your Down Payment
Put down a minimum of 35% of the vehicle's reference price. The higher your down payment, the more buying credit you earn from each weekly payment.
Make Weekly Payments
Pay $700/week (winter) or $840/week (summer). A portion of each payment accumulates as buying credits toward the vehicle's purchase price.
Reach Full Credit & Own Your Vehicle
Once your accumulated buying credits equal the full vehicle price, the title transfers to you. You own the vehicle outright — no bank, no loan.
Weekly Payment Rates
Payments are fixed by season. Your buying credit accumulation rate depends on your down payment percentage.

Weekly rates apply to all vehicles in the Rent-to-Own program regardless of make, model, or reference price. Summer season runs May 1 – September 15.
Buying Credit Example
The more you put down, the faster you build toward ownership — and the less you actually pay to rent.
Weekly payment = $700 (winter) / $840 (summer). A portion goes toward buying the car — the rest is your actual rental cost. The more you put down, the less you pay to rent each week.

Buying credits are program credits only. They have no cash value and do not represent equity or principal until the full vehicle purchase price is reached. See Important Disclosures below.
Hardship Skip Payment
We understand life happens. Each contract includes one hardship skip payment that can be used before the due date — no questions asked. Additional skip requests require management approval. This benefit is designed to give you breathing room during unexpected hardships without putting your contract at risk.
Program Requirements
Minimum 35% Down Payment
A minimum down payment of 35% of the vehicle's reference price is required to enter the program. Higher down payments increase your buying credit rate per payment.
$100 Non-Refundable Application Fee
A one-time $100 application fee is required to process your enrollment. This fee is non-refundable regardless of approval outcome or cancellation timing.
Valid Alaska Driver's License & Insurance
You must hold a valid driver's license and maintain full coverage insurance on the vehicle throughout the program. The company must be listed as an additional insured.
GPS Tracking on All Vehicles
All Rent-to-Own vehicles are equipped with GPS tracking for the duration of the program. This is a standard program requirement and cannot be waived.
Title Held by Company Until Paid in Full
The vehicle title remains with Alaska Native Car Rental until your accumulated buying credits reach the full purchase price. At that point, the title transfers to you.
Ownership & Your Responsibilities
Insurance Is Your Responsibility
You are responsible for maintaining full coverage auto insurance on the vehicle at all times. Alaska Native Car Rental must be listed as an additional insured on your policy.
Title Transfers When Paid in Full
The vehicle title stays with the company until your buying credits equal the full purchase price. Once reached, the title is transferred to you and you own the vehicle outright.
GPS Tracking Required
All program vehicles carry GPS tracking for the duration of your contract. This is a non-negotiable program requirement to protect both parties.
Late Payment Policy
Timely payments protect your buying credits and keep your contract in good standing.
Late payment is deducted from your down payment balance and a $20/day late fee begins accruing from day 1 of the late period.
All accumulated buying credits for the current period are forfeited. Your credit progress resets for that payment cycle.
The vehicle is subject to repossession. A $300 repossession fee applies. All credits and down payment amounts previously paid are forfeited.
Important Disclosures & Program Terms
This Is a Rental Agreement — Not a Loan or Financing
Alaska Native Car Rental is not a bank, lender, or financial institution. The Rent-to-Own program is a vehicle rental contract — it is not a car loan, auto financing, installment sale agreement, or any form of credit product regulated under consumer lending laws. No interest rate is charged and no loan is issued.
Nature of Buying Credits
"Buying credits" are program credits that accumulate toward the purchase price of the vehicle. They are not principal, equity, or a financial asset of any kind. Credits have no cash value, cannot be redeemed for cash, and cannot be transferred. Until the full accumulated credits equal the total vehicle purchase price, no ownership interest or equity in the vehicle is conveyed to the renter. The vehicle title remains solely with Alaska Native Car Rental throughout the program.
Nature of the Down Payment
The down payment is a program enrollment credit — it is not a loan down payment, security deposit, or equity contribution. The down payment percentage determines the rate at which buying credits accumulate from each weekly rental payment. It does not represent ownership, principal, or any interest in the vehicle. The down payment is non-refundable except as described in the Two-Week Trial Period below.
Two-Week Trial Period & Cancellation
Participants may cancel the Rent-to-Own agreement within the first 14 calendar days of taking possession of the vehicle. Upon cancellation within this trial period:
- A $300 administrative cancellation fee will be deducted from the down payment.
- The remaining down payment balance (after the $300 fee) will be refunded.
- Weekly rental payments already made are non-refundable. These payments represent rental use of the vehicle during the trial period.
- The $100 application fee is non-refundable regardless of cancellation timing.
Cancellations after the 14-day trial period are subject to the full Late Payment Policy terms. No refund of the down payment or accumulated buying credits is available after the trial period ends.
All program terms are subject to the signed Rent-to-Own agreement. In the event of any conflict between this summary and the signed agreement, the signed agreement controls. Alaska Native Car Rental reserves the right to modify program terms with notice. This page is a summary only and does not constitute a legally binding contract.
